MISSION OF THE MONTH

(Opportunities to Give Tangible Expression to Our

Faith Through Mission)

*MISSION OF THE MONTH—Kinship of Todd-Wadena Counties

Important: Just this year, a mentor in the program of Kinship of Todd-Wadena County got married.  She had her client in her wedding as a Jr. Bridesmaid.  How cool is that!  That is Kinship of Todd-Wadena Counties.  You may be thinking right now, “What part can I do to help and invest in a child’s life experiencing challenges in my own community?” Let’s not fail them, remember: “Today’s Kid’s, Tomorrow’s Future”

 YOU ARE INVITED TO:

BE A PART OF OUR Golf “Challenge” FUNDRAISER and/or COME AND EXPERIENCE  Kinship of Todd-Wadena Counties either as a volunteer mentor, volunteer helper with programs, or if you know of a child that could benefit from a positive role model in their life, please call the Director Dave Johnson at 218-894-2799 (office) or toll free 1-877-631-1788 or by email kinship@arvig.net.

Note: Kinship began over 50 years ago in St. Paul and currently has 47 affiliates in Minnesota.  Please visit the National Kinship website that serves the Midwest region at www.kinshipinc.org.

What is Kinship of Todd-Wadena Counties? Our mission is to promote positive motivation and direction in our youth by developing long-term friendships through mentoring relationships.  Our philosophy is preventative and statistics show that children who are involved in this type of program are less likely to start using drugs or alcohol.  They are more likely to have improved school performance, attendance, and improved peer and family relationships.  Dave Johnson will be here to speak on July 13 about Kinship of Todd-Wadena and the very exciting things that are happening with the program.

Every month, Immanuel's Outreach Committee highlights a different mission.  We are asking you to save your change to make a change in someone else's life.  We are first introduced to the Mission in the newsletter explaining what it is and whom it serves.  Later in the month we hear someone talk about it at a temple talk.  The last Sunday of the month, we take a special offering at the beginning of the service for that particular mission project.  This has been a very effective way of providing support for many and varied projects locally, nationally and abroad.  By saving our change each month, we are able to give support to 12 different missions throughout the year.  Let your change bring change to those in need.
