IMMANUEL CHURCH WOMEN
Approximately 40 women braved the cool breeze to gather at Tapley Park
June 16 for the annual Women’s Brunch. After a delicious brunch served
by Group C, a general business meeting was held. Jane Erckenbrack,
Wadena County Social Services, spoke of current issues regarding social
issues in Wadena County and her calling to this vocation.
Sally
Adams is one of several Synod delegates to the Women’s Triennial
Convention this summer in Salt Lake City. Also attending from Immanuel
are Georjean Johnson, Sharon Squier and Avis Paulsen. We wish these
sisters safe travels and pray that they may be blessed in this journey.
On
June 2, we shipped out 161 quilts, 3 sewing kits, 7 health kits and 8
layettes to Lutheran World Relief. Did you know that LWR ships out
452,870 quilts to 23 countries around the world? That’s about 1,494
tons of quilts and kits! Amazing, the works of your hands!
Luther
Crest’s Quilt Auction is July 12. We are donating a quilt made the
Church Mice. Carol Bruns will be working at the quilt auction this
year.
Be sure to
check out the WELCA website for women,
www.boldcafe.org.
It’s a great
website called “Café” where you can register for email alerts, Bible
studies, discussions and many interesting articles on issues facing
women today. Coming in July’s issue is an article about our consumer
culture, how we feel about owning the latest shoe styles or newest
technical gadget and how it affects our happiness or sense of
fulfillment.
Reminder:
there is a box in the concourse for your filled school kits. We are
also filling layettes and health kits, so if you come across some of the
items we need, please consider donating them.
Your
sister in Christ,
Linda
